Inclusion and opportunity sit at the heart of our kaupapa.

Through Youth Circus, we invite young people from a wide range of artistic and athletic backgrounds to step into advanced circus training.

Designed for motivated students aged 10–18, Youth Circus offers intensive training and performance opportunities that support the development of emerging circus talent.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The Youth Circus programme is for passionate young students aged 10-18 who want to push their training further and acquire strong foundations in circus technique and stage performance. It is the Circus Hub's version of a preparatory programme for tertiary education in circus arts.

The troupe meets 3 times per week to train general circus skills, learn acting and dancing, practice group skills, and create acts. We encourage the troupers to set goals for their progress, and promote commitment. While we aim to challenge the students, having fun will always remain at the core of the course. The 14-18 years old troupers will also have the opportunity to train and create an act in the specialty skill of their choice.

The troupe will have opportunities to perform throughout the year, including in our RAW showcase. We also often get invited to perform at community events, which are excellent opportunities to gain extra experience.

AUDITIONS

During the audition process, the candidates will be asked to complete several exercises so the trainers can assess their physical movement skills, teamwork ability, and overall attitude.

If candidates have additional skills they would like to demonstrate in order to show their readiness for Youth Circus, they are welcome to prepare a 1 minute (maximum) performance, which they can choose to present live at auditions, or send as video to the trainers.

Finally, candidates will have a short interview with our trainers.

Beginner students are more than welcome to audition for Youth Circus! Commitment and potential will be heavily taken into account when choosing new students.

Show us that you are passionate and ready to train hard!
