The Circus Hub is the trading name of the Wellington Circus Trust, a registered charitable trust in NZ.

Donations help us: maintain and replace our equipment, support staff training, take circus to the community, stage events and shows and generally keep the space open and running.

We also rely heavily on the support of so many volunteers who enable us to develop and progress.

If you would like to become more involved, please do let us know.

Come to Classes

One of the best ways you can help the Circus Hub, is by coming to our regular classes and/or recommend to your friends and colleagues that they come along to the Circus Hub. We have a range of classes for all almost ages and abilities, from 6am - 9pm, running up to 7 days a week.

Every few months we have a RAW Showcase, with performances from our students, teachers, and local entertainers.  Entry is Koha and donations are always appreciated, whatever you can give.

We also run a School Holiday program every holiday period. Introduction tasters most Saturday afternoons. Intensive workshops and short courses at various times throughout the year.

We're developing a preparatory program for young people. We're developing a schools program to deliver within schools around Wellington. We have programs for young people and adults with greater needs. We also aim to run an intensive Summer School every year, with trainers travelling from around the world to teach here at the Circus Hub.

Financial donations

You can also help support The Circus Hub in other ways through a one-off donation or through regular giving, with your bank.

Account name: Wellington Circus Trust

Account Number: 38-9004-0580146-00.

Please put Donation in the reference.

Every dollar helps, and we really appreciate even the smallest gifts.

Perhaps you could join our 1% club, and make a regular commitment to give 1% of your earnings to help support the Circus Hub?

Regular giving is the most powerful and sustainable way you can help us to plan financially and improve and grow our classes and programmes.  We're always seeking to expand what we can offer some students through Scholarships, Summer School, Youth Circus, and much more.

You can set up a recurring payment through your online banking.  You can also make a cash donation directly into the Honesty Box in the office at the Circus Hub.

If you are a NZ tax resident, all charitable donations to the Circus Hub can be used to reclaim up to 33.3% of your donation as a tax credit in your end of year return.  Therefore, a $3,000 donation to the Hub, would give you up to $1,000 back.  Meaning the Hub would receive $3,000, for you effectively giving just $2,000.

We've already had some wonderful donations for specific projects, such as $2,000 towards new aerial equipment, $7,500 towards our monthly rent, donations towards the Summer School program, $350 towards new shelving at the Hub, and much more,

If you need help in making a donation to us, please do let us know.

Support the Hub with your time

We also really appreciate the many volunteers who offer us their time, skills, and expertise for all manner of support around the Circus Hub.

Could you join our 1% club and donate 30 minutes a week, or 2 hours a month, of your time?   We're looking for both high skilled and low skilled support.  We have a volunteer noticeboard at the Circus Hub.

If you'd like to get more involved, please let us know how you may wish to help.    We're currently trying to build a database of volunteers, so we can get in contact directly when the next developments are planned.

Some of these roles currently include:

  • Help writing Grant Applications.

  • Helping cleaning and repainting the Circus Hub space at our scrub & paint events, and in between

  • General Handyman support around the Hub

  • Videography and video editing support of the various shows and performances by the Hub

  • Stills photography during our classes and shows

  • Support with our ongoing Rigging developments and regular safety checks

  • Website support and redevelopment assistance (helping rebuild the existing website into WordPress)

  • Social media marketing and engagement support (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

  • Fundraising events

  • Corporate Functions

  • Sales / links to local businesses and schools

  • Becoming a Trustee of the Board.

  • Other roles you feel you may be able to offer.

Help sponsor an improvement, student, or event

If you have a particular improvement around the Circus Hub you'd like to support, we'd also love to hear from you.

Developments coming up include:

  • Scholarship schemes for students otherwise unable to afford regular classes.

  • A complete redevelopment and reconfiguration of the internal space at the Hub, with increased numbers of aerial rigging points, more adaptable ground based areas, higher protection of wood up the walls, extended wooden floor over the concrete, etc.

  • Our regular RAW showcase events every three months

  • The annual Summer School program with international trainers teaching here in Wellington at the Circus Hub.

  • Branded t-shirts / clothing for our trainers, at exhibitions and shows.

Expertise and advice can be just as valuable as financial support, on much of the above.

Support with physical items

Do you have any of the following items at your home or workplace you'd be happy to donate?

  • A plumbed-in water fountain to reduce the use of disposable bottled water.

  • Reasonable exercise equipment, such as free weights, an exercise bike, elliptical machine, rowing machine, etc. (for rehabilitation after injuries). Please contact us if you may have something like this available.

  • Old but good circus equipment (juggling balls, diabolo, stilts, hula hoops, etc.). Please contact us if you have some.

  • New crash mats for underneath aerial equipment, to replace those becoming increasingly worn.

  • Donations towards any of the above.
