WCT Update – hula classes & Holiday intensivesHello all,Another update on the Trust as we have a few more classes coming up. Now that we have a little more certainty over our venue situation we will hopefully be able to plan a bit further in advance & our next update may be a ‘proper newsletter’ so if you have anything you wish to include please send it to info@circus.org.nz. We’d love to include something about your experiences of being involved with circus (e.g. the Proms) Venue-wise we will be sticking with the BNU gym for now. While this does not afford us the high roof we really need for advanced classes it does give us the stability to plan ahead and not be trying to make things to work at the last minute. We still hope to run our more advanced classes back at D9 but we’ll need to wait and see if Capital Gymnastics are able to offer us slots at a popular enough time to cover the increased venue hire. For now we are planning based on the BNU and campaigning for a space of our own. Class bookings & mail outsWe are into our third block using the http://classes.org.nz online enrolment system now. It has saved us a LOT of work. I do understand some people are having trouble paying. No-one has given me clear information but I believe the problem is with Paypal and I’m hoping to set up a different payment processor. This newsletter is being sent our through the classes.org.nz system for the first time so it should have automated unsubscribe options (cross fingers). I am looking at inviting other groups to use the on-line booking system (on a small scale at this stage). So if you run yoga classes or pilates or something like that on a block booking basis and would like to try using it let me know. The first level of use would basically allow people to have an on-line form to fill in and you could receive e-mails as they do so & get a spreadsheet of all their details sent through and provide them with payment information. (basically replacing paper enrolment forms). The system stops taking bookings when the class is full. More sophisticated functionality includes mailing list management and taking credit card payments. The system uses civiCRM – an open-source contact management system (for those of you who care). It is also being used by the Green Party in New Zealand. Hula hoop classesTanya is back next week and she’s keen to run some hula hoop classes. We will be starting them on Monday 8 September for 6 weeks from 7-8pm. It’s now open for enrolments on http://classes.org.nz. Places are limited to 8 students per class. We have capacity to put on a second class (from 8-9om if there is sufficient demand but that’s it.) Holiday intensiveWe will be running holiday intensives from 30 Sep to 3 October. There will be two levels + kids. Kids classes are also booked through http://classes.org.nz this time as there was insufficient notice for Capital E to pick it up. Please note that the enrolment system requires each person registering to have their own e-mail address (even if you have to create a temporary e-mail account for your kid) KIDS CLASSES 4 – 6pm
1. “Kids Performance Club” for kids who already attend Friday classes or have other experience with the Wellington Circus Trust or CapitalE – a chance to perfect your favourite skills and if you wish, create a small act to show your family on Friday. 2. “Kids Circus Starters” To jump start new circus kids. This will also allow you to join the Friday CapitalE circus classses in term 4. ADULTS 6-8pm 1. “Beginners Aerials Intensive” For new students and students that have only attended a Beginners1 class. 2. “Performance Development Intensive” for more experienced students who are keen on linking tricks into sequences and/or developing a performance piece for themselves and/or our end of year Xmas party Sacred ClowningAnother one on the radar…. Hi,
I have just arrived back in the country and am wondering what circus classes are running at the moment and when the next round starts. Before I left I had done beginners 1 aerials and the first half of beginners 2. I am still interested in aerials, so am looking forward to getting back into it.
Thanks,
Carolyn Blackwell

Hi,
We’re pretty much winding up for the year. Our current class block finishes this week with our Xmas party at BNU gym on the 13th and we’ll start again next year. Our enrolments and mailing list are managed through http://www.classes.org.nz so create an account there to be added to our mailing list and we’ll post classes there when the next lot are finalised.
Our calendar - see the front page of this site - has a whole heap of interesting events marked in it and it looks really cool too.
